There was one goal for El Portal’s Owner Steve Segner, get as much PR as possible and make it fast and do what no one had done – include television. In other words get the word out on this secluded inn, nestled amidst the great pines and junipers of protected forestland and the majestic red rocks in Sedona in Arizona.
Interviewing Owner’s Steve and Connie Segner allowed Bay & Associates to start to develop the plan for El Portal. The stories were abundant for El Portal, an extraordinarily beautiful twelve room Inn. Woven around a traditional center courtyard and fountain, this Hacienda calls its guests to mingle and gaze at the historic beauty and serenity of Sedona as they lounge in the midday sun or cozy up in front of the fireplace in the evening.
The story however was in the fact that it’s Owners, Steve and Connie Segner are the most interesting Inn Keepers with a vast personal collection of antiques that cover the interior of the Inn. Not only have they been collectors for years but they started in the pet industry and have brought their love of every kind of animal to the Inn.
The rooms themselves each exhibit a unique interior design created with period pieces of furniture and crafts collected by Steve and Connie during their antiquing adventures. According to the Segners, “We knew we wanted each room distinctly different, representing the period from 1890 to 1930. We have hunted for antiques, art and accessories for over thirty years so this was a natural for us.”
El Portal has been named a Best In The World, Readers Choice 2013 by Conde Nast Traveler.
Stories have been garnered in the first issue of Clean Eating Magazine and in many local publications as well. The most desired story came with a segment on Arizona Highways Television with Robin Sewell. It was the jewel in the crown.
